Editing Card Properties
NextSteps is a powerful digital tool that allows you to create interactive journeys composed of interconnected cards. This guide will walk you through the process of editing card properties, helping you create visually appealing and engaging journeys for your audience.
Getting Started with Cards
Deleting a Placeholder Card
- Locate the placeholder card in your journey.
- Click on the card menu icon.
- Select "Delete Card".
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Adding New Cards
There are two methods to add new cards to your journey:
- Drag and Connect Method:
- Click and drag a connector from an existing card to an empty area.
- A new card will automatically be created.
- Add Step Button Method:
- Click the "Add Step" button.
- Drag the new card to your desired location in the journey builder.
Editing Card Properties
To edit a card:
- Click on the card you wish to edit.
- The card properties panel will appear on the right side of the screen.
Skipping Templates
If you prefer to start with a blank card:
- When the card template screen appears, click the "X" at the top of the Card Templates area.
- This will reveal all individual card properties.
Customizing Card Appearance
Background Color
- Locate the background color option in the card properties panel.
- Choose a color by:
- Entering a hex code
- Selecting from the provided color palette
- Choosing a custom color
Image Background
To use an image as your card background:
- Click "Select Image".
- Choose from three options:
- Unsplash: Search and select from the Unsplash library directly within NextSteps.
- Custom Upload: Click "custom", then either drag an image file to the "Drop image here" section or click "upload file".
- AI Image Generator: Use the free AI tool to create a custom image.
Video Background
To use a video background:
- Close the Image selector.
- Choose the video option.
- Select from three video sources:
- Jesus Film Digital Library: Search for video clips within the tool. For more options, visit the Jesus Film Watch Page.
- YouTube: Paste a YouTube video URL into the provided text field.
- Custom Upload: Upload a video from your device (must be under 1GB and in a supported file format).
Note: Video backgrounds will loop automatically, but the audio will be muted.
Styling Options
Theme
Choose between dark and light themes, which affect text and button colors.
Layout
Switch between expanded and contained layouts to control how content is displayed within the card.
Example: Creating a Christmas Invitation Card
For a Christmas invitation journey, you might:
- Select a Christmas red as the background color.
- Choose a nativity scene from Unsplash as the background image.
- Apply the dark style theme for contrast.
